Osamede
Osamede is a young orphaned girl raised by Aigbande. She is Impulsive, stubborn, and defiant. She has never liked the oppression of the British and so she derives pleasure in challenging the status quo. In addition to this, she has also been gifted the power of the Arosusa stone by her mother. Realizing that she has supernatural powers, She must embark on a journey to understand her true calling and become the hero that the Benin Empire needs.
Iyase
Iyase is Oba Ovonramwen’s general. A seasoned strategists and warrior who wants to see the Benin empire as one of the greatest empires to ever exist. He believes that the power of the Arousa stone, in the right hands, will bring about the greatness of the Benin Empire and he believes that he is the right person to wield such powers. He does not believe in the diplomacy that Ovonramwen preaches. The British Invasion would be the right time for him to take over as the new Oba. When he discovers that the stone keepers have hidden the power away from him, he makes it his mission to find the stone and fulfill his desires.
Adaze
Adaze, is Osamede’s mother. She has been a keeper of the Aruosastone like her mother before her. Her job is to protect the gift of Osanobua. But when Iyase comes to take the stone for his own selfish reasons, she must do the unthinkable. She must transfer the power to her unborn child.
Nosa
Nosa is the head of the kings guard to the interim Oba. Nosa pledges allegiance to the empire but has no choice but to take orders from the British. When his life is threatened, he must pledge his allegiance to helping Osamede in her journey. Freeing the Benin Empire from the clutches of the British, is his ultimate task.
Sir Rogers Harry
Sir Rogers Harry is a British naval officer in the Royal Navy. He was part responsible for the Benin expedition in 1897 which saw the deposition of the Oba. The Benin Empire is a rich land and its resources will benefit Britain. Rogers has successfully established an interim monarchial system and it works for a time but his stability is threatened by Iyase’s escape from prison and this new threat of a girl with mysterious powers.
